「青梅市わがままライフコンテスト2024」最優秀賞案。
本年度は、実在する古民家を対象とし、その活用に関する提案が求められた。
空間的な完成度を競うものではなく、地域性や実現性にも重きを置いたアイデアコンペでありながら、建築設計者として空間性を無視することもまたできない。
その狭間で、建築としてのバランスを慎重に見定める必要があった。
提案では、対象敷地周辺に残る産業の雰囲気の身近さに着目し、アーティスト・イン・レジデンス（AIR）の受け皿として古民家を駆動させることを構想した。
既存建物については、接道に面した半棟のみに改修を施す案とし、「作らない」部分をあえて残すことを提案している。
ファサードには格子による構築を加え、屋内外のあいだに中間的な領域を設定している。視線や動線に対する制御を緩やかに行いつつ、空間の使い方に幅をもたせる操作である。
縮退の時代において「作らない」ことはもはや逃避ではなく、一つの意思ある選択である。ただしそれは「作る」こと以上の構想力を求められる選択でもある。
本提案は、地域にひらかれた余白としての古民家の可能性を提示するものである。

Entry proposal for the Ome City Wagamama Life Contest in 2024.
This year's competition targeted actual old houses and required proposals for their utilisation.
While the competition was not a competition for spatial perfection, but rather an ideas competition with an emphasis on locality and feasibility, as architectural designers we also could not ignore spatiality.
Between the two, it was necessary to carefully determine the balance as an architecture.
The proposal focused on the familiarity of the industrial atmosphere that remains in the vicinity of the subject site, and envisaged driving an old house as a receptacle for an artist-in-residence (AIR).
As for the existing building, the proposal is to renovate only the half of the building facing the roadside, daring to leave the 'unbuilt' part of the building.
A lattice structure has been added to the façade to create an intermediate area between the interior and exterior.This is an operation that loosely controls the line of sight and flow, while at the same time allowing for a greater range in the use of space.
In the age of contraction, 'not building' is no longer an escape, but a willful choice.However, it is also a choice that requires more conceptual power than 'making'.
This proposal presents the possibilities of the old house as a margin open to the local community.
